Barber's Garage
Sometimes, something just as difficult as creating a logo from scratch is recreating an existing one. I was given the opportunity to do just that for Jose Alvarez's Barber's Garage. If you live or have been up to California's Northern Bay Area, Barber's Garage is the place to get your haircut for special occasions or just to get lined up. Jose has been a well known member of the community for quite some time. He began cutting hair out of the back of his place for family, friends, and acquaintances. Everyone went to him because of his hospitality, humor, and fine attention to detail. Through hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit, he eventually opened two shops — one in Rohnert Park and the other in Sonoma. Jose had asked me to clean up his original logo which had a low resolution. Using Adobe Illustrator, I recreated the logo into a vector graphic piece by piece. While working on the logo, I noticed the original one wasn't perfectly symmetrical and did not posses an apostrophe so I made sure to fix those issues. The twin blades were probably the most challenging aspect of the logo. Still, I wanted to ensure even the smallest detail was given the upmost attention to quality.
